In some cases, they may have even eliminated their waiting room altogether. They aren\u2019t taking them out to make you uncomfortable. Instead, they are doing their part to keep patients and the community safe. Here\u2019s what they are doing to help reduce the spread of COVID-19<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Reducing Surfaces to Prevent Cross-Contamination<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although there\u2019s much to learn about coronavirus, there have\nbeen 2 studies performed to determine how long the virus can live on various\nsurfaces. Both studies evaluated surfaces where the virus had been applied and\nincubated at room temperature. Researchers collected samples from them at various\ntime intervals. They found it can live on certain surfaces for up to 7 days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While dental offices are already some of the cleanest\nplaces, they\u2019ve revamped their safety protocols and stepped up their cleaning\nand disinfecting routines. Unfortunately, it\u2019s impossible for them to clean everywhere\nbetween each patient without reducing the number of commonly touched surfaces in\nthe office, like chairs, magazines, or toys. Your dentist has created a virtual waiting room for several\nreasons, such as to promote social distancing and to reduce harmful pathogens\nin the office. After arriving, you\u2019ll call the front desk from the parking lot.\nTheir \u201cSafety Champion\u201d will ask you a few questions about how you\u2019re feeling\nbefore escorting you back to the clinical area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
